What Happens to the Donated Non-Perishable Foods?

January 23, 2017

Every year Community Upward Sports League chooses a local charity to support. This season we have selected Sunnyside Ministry again as our local charity! Sunnyside supports families in need of short-term emergency assistance by providing food, clothing, toiletries and other common needs.

We will have a little friendly competition to see which team can bring in the most non-perishable food items and/or monetary donations. The team at each facility who collects the most items wins an end-of-season pizza party.

Suggested Donation Items (but not limited to):

  • Peanut Butter
  • Saltine Crackers
  • Dry Pasta Noodles
  • Canned Fruit
  • Canned Meat
  • Macaroni & Cheese
  • Pasta Sauce
  • Applesauce
  • Bags of rice or beans

In addition to the food donations, all proceeds from our Annual Coaches’ Game raffle baskets also go directly to Sunnyside Ministries. Money from purchased photos (individual, team and game day) is also a donation.

Over the past four years combined, Community Upward Sports has donated over $9,000 and more than 5,000 items to aid in Sunnyside’s ministry. Visit Sunnyside Ministry’s website for more information on items that they are in need of at this time. Please help us give back to the local community and help this worthy cause throughout the 2017 basketball and cheerleading season.
